So I'm currently doing a HUGE closet purge.
I'm doing this alone because I have noticed that I have two types of friends: friends that will talk me into over-purging because they want the items I'm getting rid of and friends that have me under-purge by convincing me that I need things.
So spending all of this time alone is giving me a lot of time to think and reflect on how much I really have changed within the last couple of years. I mean, I see a transformation from December to now!
I am going to make a Vlog on my YT channel and reflect on what I think has changed about my shopping habits and why. I've heard a lot of people mention that they're trying to reform their ways and I think I've touched on what has sort of worked for me and forced me into this mind set.
We will see!

Haul! (+ Lost Memory Card)
So bad news first- I've somehow managed to misplace my memory card for my camera...which means no blogging, no videos, no hauls, no fun stuff...unless I can figure out how to use my iPod for this purpose.
Now onto the good news....
I will have a haul as soon as I find my card or get a new one...but I'll give a little sneak preview.
I hit up ASOS because they were having an amazing sale. Actually, I just needed a dress for this Saturday but the sale (obviously) sucked me in and I wound up getting a little bit more than just a dress. I actually wound up doing three orders due to the fact that ASOS only holds items for two hours and several of my items went out of stock as soon as I put them in my cart... So here goes!
First this is the dress that I settled on for Saturday. And rest assured, it will be here by Saturday. ASOS offers free shipping with no minimum on all purchases coming to the US but they also offer flat rate express shipping for $12. When you figure a lot of places charge $6.95 or even $10 for flat rate shipping, $12 is not bad to get a package from England. Anyway- the dress!
Next I got this cute little casual striped tube dress. I was going to wait on this but now that ASOS ships to the US and so many other countries their merchandise sells quickly. I think this will be perfect for casual late spring and summer days.
The colors and the print of this next dress are what really caught my eye.
I'm a sucker for ruffled. And during the spring/ summer months I LOVE to wear colors. So obviously I fell hard for this next dress.
So cute! And only $26.90!
Another leopard dress!
Sticking with my love of sparkly things-
I plan on working on this dress a little bit. I want to cinch the waist to give it a little bit more shape. I also plan to drape it and make it a little bit shorter. When I am finished I will definitely share!
I believe that you can never have too many shirts that you can just throw on with jeans and nice sandals to look pulled together. And yes, it's ruffled.
Then lastly I got (yes!) another leopard piece! And I can't wait to wear this!
So that's what will be in my haul! I also got a scarf but the picture has been removed so I can't find it. I look forward to receiving these goodies- some this week and some next- and sharing them with you!

Preparation: Step One
I have started preparing myself to not shop during winter quarter. My first step: deleting store emails and unsubscribing from many mailing lists. I feel as if not having percent/ money off, free shipping, new product, and all of the other emails that stores send out in my face will help a lot. I was able to unsubscribe from a number of lists but I (easily...) became bored with this and just deleted everything. I will unsubscribe as the emails come in.
Next I am going to try to figure out if I can set my leech block to not allow me to enter the checkout portion of sites that I frequently purchase from (Forever 21, Express, Aldo....) because I still would like to be able to look and gather inspiration, just not spend money.
I feel more confident now that I have started setting myself up for success. I also have several other females that will be joining me. They are all setting up their own individual shopping rules and regulations but we will all provide a support system for each other.
Until next time-

New Project (s)
So I have two new projects. One I mentioned in a previous blog post regarding my attempt to stop shopping and shop my closet. I will have my absolute final decision regarding this to post on December 31 as I will be starting on January 1.
The second project is a little DIY/ crafty project. I will start taking pictures when I pull it out of my trunk. Until then, I choose to leave you in suspense and not mention what it is!
So until then....

I WILL Stop Shopping!- (the final decision.)
Who: Me!
What: A new no-buy/ fashion challenge
Where: Everywhere that I am, YouTube, and right here!
When: Beginning January 1, 2011
Why?: I feel as though I shop a lot and I probably have enough clothes to last me a good while.
So I am definitely going to begin a no-buy. I am going to start out with the small goal of Winter Quarter (about 3 months.) During this time period I will not spend money on ANY clothing excluding necessary purchases (new undergarments, socks, etc. lol.)
And just how do I plan to accomplish this? Simple- I will shop my closet. I will post pictures to my blog and make videos for YouTube documenting my progress. I might even enlist the help of some friends.
Wish me luck!

I *WILL* Stop Shopping.
I've spent a lot of time during this break trying to think about my wardrobe and how I want it to be. This includes thinking about what items to get rid of (seriously) and also adding a few "better" pieces- all in an attempt to streamline my wardrobe and make it easier for me to get dressed in the morning. I've gotten several amazing shoes, some great sweaters, and a couple of dresses. Even though it will be cold, I plan to wear some dresses (with tights of course) in an effort to remain put together.
I also have realized how much I really shop. So I really plan to stop. With the exception of one pair of shoes that I have my eye on and a few other pieces I am officially FINISHED shopping. I think I am going to put myself on sort of a low buy or an allowance just in case the urge bites me but reward myself for resisting. I'm thinking $50 a month and if I can go the whole month without buying unnecessary clothes I will give myself $50 additional. That might work.
I will also post pictures of the things that I have coming. I want to make them different posts because I hate writing long and drawn out posts. So with that said....toodles!

New Shoes! (I Forgot)
I ordered some new shoes today. I'm sure I didn't need them but I couldn't pass up this deal. And they're hot. I promise.
This shoe retails for $270 but I was able to snag my pair for just over $30.

Fall Trend: Oxfords (I Own Them!)
I've been anti- oxfords for a while now. I just really don't care for flat shoes.
At all.
I prefer heels and wedges...which was fine and dandy while I was on the regional campus- maybe have to park in the back of the lot on an unlucky day, walk up a flight of stairs, walk a few yards, walk up another flight of stairs and I've arrived at my classroom.
But now that I'm on the main campus and will be doing a lot of walking (on cobblestone at that) I figured it's time to invest in a couple pair of flats.
I have my blingy sandals (love!) and a few pair of other slip-ons but I don't feel as though the slip-ons will carry me into late fall appropriately. They're the prissy, low cut ones that cover just enough foot....and they're not very comfortable either due to the way that they are cut.
Today I came across a pair of oxfords for only $11.99 so I said, "Why not?"
- Boyfriend jeans and flannel style shirt
- cropped denim and sweater

Mr. Ed Isn't On???
Apparently I've been away from home long enough to forget that Mr Ed isn't on on Saturday mornings. So I guess I'm up for nothing? Might as well make use of the time right? I have a busy busy busy day ahead of me.
I've been a slacker for this past week. Wait, slacker doesn't even begin to define what I have been. I feel well rested physically which is a huge plus but I have gotten absolutely nothing accomplished that I had wanted to.
- I wanted to catch up on (and even get ahead of) some of the school work that I need to complete- only about two and a half weeks left of summer quarter after all.
- I wanted to finish packing up my room so that my parents can re-carpet my room.
- I wanted to do a little bit of shopping and try to find some of the staples I want in my wardrobe for fall (I did find some army green cropped pants and a pair of black jeggings- score!)
- I *need* to get a wedding present (wedding is today at 3 p.m.- it's currently 6:35 a.m.)
- I *need* to drop a box off at the post office.
I've thought about my itinerary for the day. Packed to say the least. I hate that things aren't open super early because I'm realizing that as far as errands I'd rather wake up and get everything over with. Well, the post office opens at 8:30 so that will be my first stop. JC Penney opens at 9. I don't know if I should go there first because I tend to spend hours (literally) staring at the pretties at Sephora. I'd also like to make a stop at Target to stock up on sugary things and Kohl's to hit up their clearance (which is usually AMAZING!) I absolutely have to go to Bed Bath and Beyond because that's where the wedding gift is. While I'm there I might as well go to Old Navy (LOVE Old Navy and especially their clearance!) and I'd ultimately like to be home by 12:30 or 1 so that I can rest and get dressed for the reception (it's casual- thank goodness I don't have to get all fancy)
So yea, that's my agenda for the day! Wooooohoooo! And all because I was too lazy to go shopping on Thursday or Friday. Oh well. Since I'm up I think I'm going to try to get a jump start on some packing so maybe I can still leave tomorrow (though I highly doubt it)
Toodles!!

Purge. Step One.
(yes, I should totally be asleep right now- but when inspiration strikes I must record it)
As I ponder the quickest, easiest, least painful way to purge my belongings I have come up with this solution- Start big and work down.
This means starting with one of my most beloved things ever- my shoes.
I have been pretty good about not buying shoes that don't fit me comfortably but that doesn't mean I haven't previously purchased some doozies.
When I get back to my apartment I am trying on every single pair of shoes I own (this will also give me a chance to get pictures taken for the boxes) and they will go into three piles
- Goodwill- I know I could sell a lot of my shoes and make a nice little penny, but time. I'm thinking about time here. And the longer they sit around my apartment the longer I will have to have second thoughts about them. So out the door they must go. (Plus selling is a sucky sport bc different people have different ideas of "good" condition and I'm not in the mood to hear it right now)
- Keep- Only keeping shoes that fit my feet. None of this scrunching into 7.5's because they were cute and on sale. And none of this keeping them because I paid a little too much for them. Lesson learned.
- Parents house- I think with it being late summer a lot of my springier shoes can go to my parents house the next time I go. I already know a few pair that are ready to come out of my wardrobe but I'm sure as I go through them pair by pair I will find several others that I just won't wear until next spring. *This is usually the last stop before Goodwill. If I don't love them when I get them out to wear the next season, off they go.
As far as storage:
I know I need to invest in another piece of furniture but I want to keep it versatile yet inexpensive. My whole game plan with this apartment furniture is to go as inexpensive as possible that way I can sell it to the next person for $20 and if nobody bites, I won't cry if I can't take it with me. So I'm trying to stay under about $150 for things. I've settled on this piece which I think I will be able to move my undergarments, socks, and other misc. into thus freeing up room in my (complex provided) dresser for larger items. I think I will also be able to squeeze a couple of swimsuits into a lower drawer (in case somebody has a pool party duh) so I'll be able to take one set of Sterilite out of my closet.
So we will see what happens. My next step is the clothing. I am on a buying diet until September 1 but I think I am going to extend that to October 1 to give myself a better chance to weed my closet out and decide what I want to add. I want to go with a lot of sleek basics: blazers (which I have a ton of), nice sweaters...a lot of mix and match pieces. And I think if I start going on one monthly shopping excursion with a little bit of online shopping in between it will help me get a grip. Who knows?

I Broke.
I'm sure it's obvious (knowing me) that I purchased a pair of shoes.
Yes, I know I said I wouldn't do anymore shopping until September.
Yes, I'm aware that it's still July.
But I found a pair of shoes that (in my mind) I can't live without. I'm trying to incorporate more chunky style heels and wedges into my wardrobe though and these shoes definitely fit that description.
And they're Steve Madden. Steve Madden is one of my current obsessions. I remember being younger (high school age) and lusting after his shoes. I remember getting a job at Macy's and drooling over his shoes but never really wanting to commit that much money toward them. But now that I've become a wiser shopper I know how to find deals. I'd still save for you Steve...now that I know how wonderful you really are.
And they were an amazing price. $21.99. For a pair of shoes with an original tag of $109.99. Good deal. Everybody knows *I* can't pass up a good deal on shoes.
So here they are:
I did have some second thoughts about them but after reading the reviews I had to have them. We will see. I can always return them if they don't work. But I'm thinking of them for that in between weather- ya know right before it gets too chilly. The weather when a flip flop isn't totally appropriate (at least in my eyes) but you're not ready to rock closed toed shoes all the time.
But yea, they are mine.

I Fail!
I really am terrible at this whole "not shopping" thing. I went thrifting today at a few of my favorite thrift stores. I'll take pictures of some of my purchases tomorrow when I get back to my apartment (yes, I still hide my shopping from my parents so I don't want to take things out of my trunk) but for now I will give you a little list
St. Vincent's- St. Vincents is an amazing second hand store that is run by the Catholic church. If you good St. Vincent's thrift shop a site should pop up that will tell you if there is one near you. I purchased I think five vases, four green and one brown (maybe four, three green and one brown? Ionno.) For the price I will see what looks good in the living room/ kitchen area and go from there. I also found a random pillow that is the same as the ones I have on my bed now (totally.random.) so for fifty cents I had to purchase it. Little disinfecting and it will be great. I don't care for the symmetry that is my bed right now because I only had two of these pillows but now I have three!!!
Goodwill Wheeling- Wheeling WVa's Goodwill sometimes has AMAZING things (and sometimes not) I found a wooden coaster/ napkin ring set for $1.99. I am a big fan of coasters so I will stick this set up...when we have company now we have extras. I also purchased a big glass bowl (we'll find a purpose for it) and a little wooden bowl (again, we'll find a purpose) I purchased two blazers for the fall. One is sort of a green, tweedy and the other is a black and gray plaidy thing. Both very cute. And both within my guidelines. Then I cheated and purchased this amazing vintage dress. It's black and silver, comes above my knees and has this detailing on the sleeves that is amazing. Words can't really describe this one so a picture will follow tomorrow. Promise.
So that was my productive cheating. Off to the next store.

St Vincents---Uhoh!!
So I'm headed to St Vincent's thrift store to see if I can score some more decorations for the apartment. I scored a couple of cute vases from the Salvation Army in my town yesterday and plan to copy a friend's kitchen. I will link you to her blog. She has pictures of her apartment up--she actually lives in a building across the complex from me-- but her set up is SO cute! And it feels so homey.
I called a little bit ago and the lady told me they close at 3:30 today which is a bummer so I gotta hurry and get down there! I had wanted to head home right after my finals yesterday (projected to be finished at noon, actually finished a little before 11) and run my errands here around 3pm...but then I started cleaning and couldn't quit...and then I had errands to run in Athens...so I didn't get home until around 6:30.
Wish me luck and hope I find some cute things!

This Time I Mean Business!
I promise, this time around I mean business as far as this whole "shopping diet" thing. My closet is consuming me. I have sooooo many clothes and it's just---UGH! So this is what I propose until September:
- No more summer clothes unless it is something that I absolutely need in order to wear something that is already in my closet.
- Upon commencement of summer- HUGE purge and I will be allowed to add GOOD pieces. Not just trendy things that make me say "Oh it's so cute!"
- Only staple Fall/ Winter pieces. Nice sweaters that I can wear with multiple outfits, good jeans that fit me well, comfy clothes to trudge around campus in, etc.
- No more going out clothes until I figure out what my social life is going to be like.
- Fall/ Winter shoes may be purchased but only if at an amazing price
- And no more cheap shoes (resolution, Keisha. Stick to it!)
- No more jewelry, belts, or any other accessories.
I am also going back to the purge rules that I had set up last year:
- If I put it on and absolutely HATE how it fits or looks, it goes to Goodwill.
- If after wearing a piece I decide I'm not content with it, it also goes to Goodwill
So we will see. I'll keep tabs on my progress.
Also, shoe haul pics coming soon. These shoes are BEAUTIFUL!! I'm going home for the weekend though so it won't be until at least next week.
Tata!

New SHOES= New Shoe Resolution
A lot of my shoes came today (Yaaaaay!) I love most of them but two pair have to go back because of defects- but that's another story. This story is about a new resolution I have in mind.
So I've always strayed away from expensive brand shoes. $100+ is just too much to spend on a pair of shoes. Ya know? I think of everything that I can spend $100 on, go and purchase something similar for $25 and go about my day.
Because of my unwillingness to spend money like this on shoes I've never really browsed expensive shoes. I mean, I know the way expensive names like Jimmy Choo and CL because we are bombarded with their names daily...but I've never really browsed the inbetweens- the shoes that cost over one hundred but are definitely not five hundred.
This new resource has opened up a whole new world tome. I'm discovering new brands that I would ignore due to the prices.
For example this pair by a brand called Circa Joan & David (ignore my rolled up PJ pants):
Anyway, having noticed this difference in comfort I think my mom was right- I need to stop buying shoes because they're cheap. I'm going to quit with my impulse buying ("Oh! Those are so cute AND they're only $27!!!" "I don't have any orange pumps that look like this. Need." etc.) and just wait for better shoes to catch my eye....then the shoes wind up hurting like hell so they sit in my closet until I finally haul them off to Goodwill where somebody else can suffer.
This comfort level is important to me right now. I've never really confessed this to people. I guess it's an obvious fact if you get to see my feet. And it's always kinda been like an "oh gross" type of thing....but seeing how many celebrities suffer from this I guess I can admit it.
I have bunions. Yes, at 23. Part hereditary. Part dancing and being on my feet for sports all of those years. Part wearing shoes that don't fit properly or have adequate cushioning. Part wearing heels a lot in general. I never really noticed pain in them until I worked at Lowe's and I was standing on my feet for 8 hours. One day I was in so much pain that I told my mom I wanted to get surgery before they got worse...but upon doing research I want surgery to be my absolute last resort. I don't think I am at a place in my life where I can be off of my feet for that long anyway.
So I was reading about different therapies and it made me start thinking that shifting my shoe focus needs to be a priority right now. In the past year I've gotten pretty good about not squeezing my feet into too small shoes and hoping that they wouldn't hurt too much. Now I think I need to start buying better cushioned shoes that are a little less narrow.
And really, to think about it from a price standpoint, these shoes aren't that badly priced:
One pair of comfortable shoes for $200.
OR
Two pair of regular price Aldo shoes
Four pair of sale Aldo shoes (I usually snag them around $50)
About ten pair of "cheapies" from someplace like amiclubwear or urban original.
Considering the "cheapies" just sit, how good of a deal is that really? So again, no more impulses. I *WILL* save and get better shoes.
Night.

Shoe Diet FAIL
So I failed miserably at this shoe diet thing. I was supposed to go until September without buying a pair of shoes (or even really clothes) buuuuuut I saw a link with a really good deal and bored, started browsing Amazon's warehouse section. Uh, can I say GOOD DEALS? Yes I can. I've ordered like, 15 pair of shoes today. And spent a pretty penny BUT also saved a pretty penny and I think accomplished most of what I was hoping to accomplish in September as far as boots and other fall shoes.
I've also been looking at prices on some of the sites that I frequent (AMI, Urban Original, etc) and their prices are going up ($30 and 40 for some cheap shoes) so the prices that I paid for these good shoes don't shock me as much. Plus with my Amazon Prime account (thank goodness for being a student) I get free two day shipping! And I figure for as good of deals as I got, anything I don't want I can easily just resell and get my money back on ebay which is great.
I will work on a post (or two) featuring the items that I'm waiting on.

LUST Update!!
I ordered the purple pumps earlier today!!
Literally as soon as I posted yesterday about the shoes I checked my Facebook and the very first thing on my news feed was a Bakers deal: 15% off for Facebook fans with code USAV15.
So of course I was ecstatic. I tested the code to see how much the shoes would be and they came to $59.99, $65 with shipping and before taxes. So I figured if I'd be spending so close to the free shipping threshold I might as well just add a few dollars and get free shipping. The result was my adding and subtracting shoes and accessories trying to get the amount to just over $75 (Bakers does their free shipping on the final total, not the total prior to discounts) AND get things I really wanted (that's harder than it sounds) so I quit for the day.
I woke up today DETERMINED to have those shoes. Yes, determined. So I was browsing and found a pair of flip flops that were $10ish and just added shoe accessories (no slips, heel grips, ball of foot pads)
I'm excited for them to get here!

What's Coming in the Mail (NY&Co):
This is a little bit complicated. I don't even know why I went to the NY&Co website. But I did. And then the "Free shipping on all orders over $65" got me even though that isn't even a really good deal. So I placed an order. Basics that I'll wear several times so the fact that I spent a little more than usual doesn't both me too much.
Another plain black sweater (I seem to be obsessed):
The sweater alone only came to $49.50 so I was short of the free shipping deal. I liked the belt that they had featured with the gray sweater however so I found it:
I got the black.
Then upon conclusion of my order one of those "do our survey" thingies popped up. I NEVER do this but for some reason opted to do this one. My "prize" was $25 off $75. Yes, that is some prize considering I still have to pay shipping and handling and NY&Co charges your shipping BEFORE discounts...so instead of paying the $50 shipping rate you pay the $75 rate which is $9.99 in itself. But still, $25 is $25. So I went back onto the site and made myself a nice little cart with a shirt that I had originally wanted but didn't want to spend the money on (will be on my upcoming "lust" post) Well apparently discount/ money off codes can't be used on clearance and redline items. But after really looking at my clearance items I decided to just purchase those outright. I'll get the shirt later when maybe I find more regular price merchandise to apply to my discount. And I really hate that I had to pay shipping on two items; I would have ordered them with the first order had I known. But what's done is done right?
Anyway:
I really liked the color of this dress. And I think it will look great with that pair of sandals I am lusting after that you will eventually see. Plus it looks pulled together enough yet casual that I can go to class and then a meeting afterward or whatever.
And then this:
Again in an attempt to pull my outfits together in a different way. I purchased the blue one because it seems fun and is pretty enough but I'm going to attempt to add scarves to my wardrobe.
So that's that!

NY&Co Belt

What's Coming in the Mail (Wet Seal):
I'm not really a huge Wet Seal person but sometimes they get me. I usually hold off when I see something on their site and if I find a couple more items I'll place an order. Reason: They have free shipping over $15 and usually one item that I like comes right under that mark.
The first item I purchased:
I also ordered these sandals:
I figure these will go wonderfully with the city shorts and the shirt pictured above.
I wasn't going to purchase this but I really couldn't resist:
I couldn't resist I swear! This dress is so basic and classy and I can do so much with it that for the price I think it was a smart purchase.
Lastly I purchased a casual top. I'm working on my casual wardrobe:
And now I promise I am going to bed. It is 2 am and I have class at 8. The rest of the haul will just have to wait until tomorrow or Friday. Night!

What's Coming in the Mail (The Limited):
A little birdie (a little evil, enabling birdie) told me that The Limited was having free shipping today...I decided to check it out and maybe buy ONE thing. I wound up with 8. But I think they're 8 awesome pieces that I will enjoy styling and wearing.
First I selected a belt that The Limited's website won't let me view so I will have to take pictures when it arrives. It's a nice casual belt. I've been feeling like some of my outfits are missing something and maybe that touch is a belt here and there so I'm going to try to work more into my wardrobe.
This belt was a good price (and I really do like blue):
I think this will be a nice pop of color piece. This also comes in black and white. I may order the black one if I like how this one looks. (Links at bottom- I can't promise the availability of pieces)
I purchased a pair of gray sandals with a flower on the top that is also not showing on the website right now.
I think I am going to like these pants:
I LOVE cropped pants....especially in the fall when it's getting a little bit colder. I love dark washes too because they look so classy.
I told myself I would stop there...a couple of clearance pieces and I would be done. BUT then in true temptation style, I saw a picture of a model wearing this next piece and HAD to have it:
Cute right? And I can easily dress it down which makes me happy. But get this--shirts where buy one get one half off so how could I resist getting it in white:
I LOVE ruffles! Seriously! And I have a white ruffled shirt from the Walmart Miley Cyrus line but it's not quite as sleek as this one so I'm donating it to Goodwill.
I'm a sucker for sweaters:
Plus I love purple. So I just had to have it.
And then they told me that I was like, six dollars away from getting one of their little virtual dollars ($25 off of a future order of $50...) so I have to get one last thing:
I don't really have a classy black sandal. All of mine are either trendy or super casual so this will be a good addition to my wardrobe.
This is exhausting!!
